Are you actively hiring for the positions listed on your website?
We are always looking for new talent! We’re a small, but growing firm and are careful to expand at a manageable pace. That’s why there is always a combination of contract and permanent opportunities listed on our website. Our contract opportunities are always changing based on the needs of our clients. Frequently, check our Current Opportunities to see what’s new.
What level of experience are you looking for?
OPTIMUS | SBR is growing and we are looking for star performers who can help shape our organization. As a management consulting firm that provides expertise to clients in financial services, utilities, health care and not-for-profit sector, we are looking for qualified candidates with some combination of this industry background. During peak periods, we also actively recruit, on select campuses, to add new grads to the team.
What is the corporate culture of OPTIMUS | SBR?
Our values of Leadership, Passion, Teamwork, Integrity, and Initiative encapsulate what we seek out in potential employees and cultivate in our team every day. Our clients appreciate that we take calculated risks, tell it like it is, and tackle new challenges in everything we do. We also have a “Bold Attitude”, which has different meanings to different people.
Beyond that, we work hard and play harder. No matter how busy we are, you can always hear laughter ringing through the office. And, in spite of having over half of our consultants working offsite most days, this is far from a disconnected group. We insist on frequent organizational communication and create opportunities to celebrate project and life milestones, or even just to play a friendly match of ping pong. Actually, the game can get a little competitive with this group!
Why wouldn’t I want to be a part of OPTIMUS | SBR?
If you are looking to join a large consulting house with lots of structure and hierarchy – that’s not us!
We thrive in smaller, nimble delivery teams, with direct client relationships and a close reach to the internal leadership team. We’re not big on titles; there are only 5 levels within each practice area. Opportunities are there for those who take them and want to leave their mark. We work closely with our Career Managers to ensure that our individual goals are achieved, but at the end of the day, it’s largely up to the individual to fulfill the commitments that they’ve made. People here have an entrepreneurial spirit, which means that they take ownership of whatever they are working on and actively look to build the business.
What are the working hours? Is there flexibility?
We ground ourselves in a Deliverable-Based environment, meaning there is a premium placed on what is accomplished, not how long it took to do it. Obviously, there are going to be occasions where client demands combined with internal commitments, require employees to put in some extra hours, but on average, our team works a fairly regular schedule. Our client base is local – primarily in the GTA and the Southern Ontario region – which limits out of town travel and increases time with family and friends.
For the months of July and August, we provide Summer Hours, which gives employees the ability to work half days on Fridays, provided there are no client commitments and all their work is complete.
Some degree of flexibility is allowable, but we have to work in accordance with client requirements. This can be discussed with your Career Manager.
